2 Calvert County cyclists on tandem bike struck and killed by drunk driver

WASHINGTON– Two Calvert County cyclists on a tandem bike were killed on Saturday night after being struck by a car.

John H. Fauerby, 64, and Lynne F. Rosenbusch, 58, of Clarksburg, Md. were traveling on Tobacco Road in Chesapeake Beach when a car came up behind the bicycle and hit it. Both Fauerby and Rosenbusch were thrown off the bike. Rosenbusch was prounounced dead at the scene and Fauerby  succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital.

The car driver, Catherine F. Lyon, 62, of Huntingtown, was arrested and charged with multiple traffic and criminal charges. Police determined that Lyon had been driving while drunk. She is being held at the Calvert County Detention Center until her hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

2 Calvert Co. dog parks closed to lessen disease spread

WASHINGTON — Calvert County, Maryland, dogs will have to find another place to hang out, as the county is temporarily closing two dog parks until further notice. The closing is to lessen the spread of an outbreak of Mycoplasma cynos, according to Calvert County.  Mycoplasma bacteria are usually associated with canine infectious respiratory disease or kennel cough.
