1 killed in Waldorf accident

WASHINGTON — One person is dead after a single-vehicle accident in Waldorf, Maryland Thursday, Maryland State Police say.

Police say the 1 a.m. crash occurred at the intersection of Acton Lane and Timber Brooke Drive when the driver struck a utility pole.

Police have not released the name of the victim.

WASHINGTON — A 2-year-old boy was killed and his 5-year-old brother was seriously injured after a tree fell on them Thursday evening in La Plata, Maryland, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office. It happened shortly after 6 p.m. at a home in the 8900 block of Turkey Hill Road. The boys’ father had been cutting the tree down in their backyard.
