ST. LOUIS (AP) — Wyndham Clark lost a five-shot lead and then birdied his last three holes Sunday for an even-par 70 and a three-shot victory in the BMW Championship in what felt like a repeat of his U.S. Open victory this summer.
Just like at Shinnecock Hills, Clark lost a big lead and had the crowd pulling for the other guy, in this case Rory McIlroy at Bellerive. McIlroy couldn’t keep up over the final holes and finished third. Patrick Cantlay closed with three straight birdies for a 68 to finish second, which moved him into the top 30 who advance to the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta.
Gary Woodland, still coping with recovery from brain surgery three years ago, tied for fourth and advanced to East Lake for the first time since 2019. Robert MacIntyre also moved into the top 30.
Clark won for the third time this year, including a major and a FedEx Cup playoff event. He finished at 17-under 263.
LIV Golf League
WESTFIELD, Ind. — Jon Rahm finished the LIV Golf season Sunday in style — claiming his third straight season points title and his second team crown in a row at the revised season finale in suburban Indianapolis.
Now the 31-year-old Spaniard and the other full-time tour players will wait to see what happens to the tour in 2027.
Rahm closed with a 7-under 63 for his second straight runner-up finish in Indy. He ended up a stroke behind 22-year-old Michael La Sasso, the 2025 NCAA individual champ at Mississippi.
La Sasso finished with a 65 to get to 18 under.
LPGA Tour
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Diminutive Japanese star Miyu Yamashita matched the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record Sunday in a wire-to-wire, nine-stroke victory in the CPKC Women’s Open at Royal Mayfair.
The 4-foot-11 Yamashita made an 8-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th for a 4-under 66 and 23-under 257 total. Sei Young Kim also shot 257 in the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic in Wisconsin, finishing at 31 under.
Six strokes ahead entering the round, Yamashita pushed the margin to nine on the tree-lined layout — and mosquito hot spot after record summer rain — for a tournament record in the national championship. She broke the tournament record of 262 set by Jin Young Ko in 2019 at Magna in Aurora, Ontario, after also setting 36- and 54-hole marks.
Fellow Japanese player Yuri Yoshida was second at 14 under after a 69.
Three spots on the U.S. Solheim Cup were decided during the week, with captain Angela Stanford set to announce her three picks Monday for the Sept. 11-13 matches in the Netherlands. Allisen Corpuz wrapped up the last automatic place Friday, and Andrea Lee and Alison Lee took spots off the working ranking Sunday.
European tour
ABERDEEN, Scotland (AP) — Scott Jamieson won the Nexo Championship by two shots at one of President Donald Trump’s golf courses in Scotland on Sunday, closing with a 5-under 67 to secure his first European tour title in 14 years.
The 42-year-old Scot finished on 11-under par overall at Trump International Golf Links. It was his second title on the tour, after winning the Nelson Mandela Championship in South Africa in 2012.
England’s Matthew Jordan was runner-up after shooting 70 and compatriot Andy Sullivan (68) was two strokes further back in third.
Patrick Reed, hopeful of stretching his Race to Dubai lead over Rory McIlroy, struggled to a 73 and tied for 30th along with John Daly II, the son of the two-time major champion.
PGA Tour Champions
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Steven Alker won the Rogers Charity Classic on Sunday for his second victory of the year and 12th overall on the PGA Tour Champions, beating Y.E. Yang with a 7-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff.
A day after matching the tournament record at Canyon Meadows with a 9-under 61, the 55-year-old Alker closed with a 5-under 65 to match Yang at 16-under 194. Yang shot a 63.
Alker, from New Zealand, also won the Cologuard Classic in March in Tucson, Arizona, beating Padraig Harrington on the first extra hole.
Jerry Kelly (63) and Zach Johnson (65) tied for third.
Korn Ferry Tour
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Yuta Sugiura birdied his last three holes Sunday for a 7-under 65, giving him a one-shot victory over fast-charging Austin Hitt in the AdventHealth Championship.
It was the first Korn Ferry Tour title for Sugiura, who has won three times on the Japan Golf Tour. This moved him to just outside the top 20 on the points list for players who get PGA Tour cards. He finished at 29-under 259.
Hitt birdied the last hole for a closing 60, and then waited to see if it would hold. Sugiura birdied his last three holes, a 20-footer on the 17th and tap-in birdies on the 16th and 18th holes.
United States Golf Association
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Maria McBride of Sweden atoned for a collapse last year by holding on Sunday with a 1-over 73 to capture the U.S. Senior Women’s Open.
McBride shared the 54-hole lead a year ago and stumbled to a 78 to finish eight back. This time, she overcame a few hiccups and held off Annika Sorenstam to win by two shots.
Sorenstam closed with a 71 at Barton Hills.
McBride, who started the final round with a four-shot lead, finished at 6-under 282 to deny Sorenstam. Karrie Webb (70) finished third. They were the only three players under par.

Epson Tour: Megha Ganne won the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic for her first tour title, beating Cholcheva Wongras with a par on the second hole of a playoff. The former Stanford star won the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur. … Sejung Hiramoto closed with a 6-under 66 for a three-shot victory over Kazuki Higa in the Jumbo Ozaki Memorial Tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. … Dominic Foos of Germany overcame a three-shot deficit with a 5-under 67 for a one-shot victory in the Vierumaki Finnish Challenge on the Challenge Tour in Europe. … Daniel Svärd of Sweden closed with an even-par 70 and won with a par on the first playoff hole against Adam Duncan (68) to capture the Manitoba Open on the PGA Tour Americas. … Rin Yoshida closed with a 4-under 68 for a two-shot victory in the CAT Ladies on the Japan LPGA. … Kyorim Seo lost a three-shot lead with a 2-over 74, but held on to win the KLPGA Championship with a birdie on the first playoff hole to beat Minsol Kim on the Korea LPGA.
