She gets along great with dogs that are just as enthusiastic about playing as she is, especially when it comes to game of tug. But Abigale can gear down for naps and car rides as well. Chanel, WTOP's Pet of the Week: Dec.. 7, 2020. (Courtesy Humane Rescue Alliance) — Chanel is a cute, friendly and playful 1-year-old puppy that loves all the pets and affection she can get. She wants to be right by your side at all times and loves to cuddle. Chanel is just as happy spending time outside playing with other dogs too. This sweet three-legged dog came to the Humane Rescue Alliance in rough shape, but thanks to HRA's medical team she's finally feeling better and ready for adoption. This goofy, 7-year-old girl acts like she is a cat and absolutely loves being snuggled under the covers or hanging out right next to you. Diana has lived with other dogs and cats, but would be do best if those other pets are seeking an enthusiastic companion. She loves to get close! Maxwell, WTOP Pet of the Week: November 23, 2020 — Meet Maxwell! This sweet, 2-year-old pup with the most adorable smile will quickly melt your heart. A friendly, sweet dog, who loves getting pets and playing fetch — and he can’t wait to do all these things with his new family. This fella loves to cuddle, walks very well on a leash and is great at following directions. At 7 years old, Dug is past the energetic puppy phase, but he plays well with his younger foster brother and other dogs. Hooch, WTOP's Pet of the Week: October 13, 2020 — Hooch is a one-year old, 40 pound grey gentleman! He's a social guy who likes to lean in for lots of pets. He's very curious and would love to go on walks or hikes with you, or just hang out on the couch. Hooch came to the Humane Rescue Alliance after being abandoned and weighing just 28 pounds. Canyon, WTOP Pet of the Week: September 21, 2020 — Meet Canyon! A sweet and playful, 54 pound 2-year-old pup. He is eager to meet both dogs and people and loves to be pet. Though he loves fetch and tug of war, Canyon is also content lying down when you want to relax. Canyon is a muscular boy, but is gentle on walks and tries to match your pace. Polo, WTOP Pet of the Week: September 14, 2020 — Meet Polo! He is the sweetest older gentleman. He loves people, other animals and is very curious. He's easy to walk and great on a leash. Red has no qualms about asking for belly rubs, or cozying up to your leg, and loves being a faithful companion. He also enjoys relaxing inside and is a great cuddle buddy and friend when you need it. Franny does well around kids and is a very patient pup. At three years old she’s past the puppy energy but would be a great daily walking companion. Arnold, WTOP's Pet of the Week: July 20, 2020 — Meet Arnold, a one-year-old, friendly, cuddly pup! This smart pup is already house trained and is eager to please. Penelope, WTOP's Pet of the Week: 7/13/2020 — Penelope is an energetic, 1-year-old pup who is sure to be the light of her adopter’s life. Penelope has just one eye, but she doesn’t let that get her down and has no problem navigating her foster home. Milly, WTOP Pet of the Week: 6/29/2020 — Meet Milly! This one-year-old pup recently arrived at the Humane Rescue Alliance from our transport partner in Mississippi. Delfina, Pet of the Week: June 22, 2020 — Meet Delfina, an energetic, fun loving pup! At just 3 years old, Delfina came to the Humane Rescue Alliance after being found as a stray in DC. This sweet girl loves people and all the attention she’s getting from her foster. While she does well with older children, she may play a little too roughly for young kids and other pets in the home. Dazzell, Pet of the Week: June 15 — Meet Dazzle! He is a one year old, 60 pound, bouncy, affectionate pup. He would thrive in a home with another dog who can show him how to dog, play half the day and cuddle the rest. A dog buddy would also help keep him calm and content whenever his humans are not at home. You will quickly fall in love with Dazzell and he with you. He's a food and toy-motivated velcro dog who bonds slowly but very strongly with his humans. He's excellent at communicating his needs and you will get constant kisses of appreciation. Dean, Pet of the Week: June 8 — Dean is a sweet and affectionate guy. The two-year-old is fully potty trained and knows a few commands, but has proven to be a quick learner. He would love to have someone continue to teach him commands and tricks! Dean gets excited on walks and when meeting new people and would like someone to continue helping him with his leash skills. He is a good eater and loves to sleep (usually on his back with his legs straight in the air)! Stan, Pet of the Week: June 1 — Meet Stan! Stan is a 60 pound, very handsome and lively two-year-old pup. He will find the most comfortable spots in the house to stretch out and sleep. Stan has adapted to a family with two teens and to using his crate at night. Stan would do best being the only dog in the home. Nino, Pet of the Week: May 18 — If you’re looking for a smiley, adventurous, and energetic friend, look no further than the lovable Nino! Meet Paco, WTOP's Pet of the Week for the week of May 11. — Meet Paco! This energetic, 60 pound pup is as fun and friendly as can be. Prince, Pet of the Week: March 23, 2020 — Meet Prince! He’s a 10-year-old heartthrob ready to find his soulmate. He's shy and quiet at first but after a few ear rubs you'll get to see the sweet, snuggly guy who is looking for his couch companion. Prince came to the Humane Rescue Alliance after his previous owner passed away and we’d love nothing more than to help find this 84 pound lap dog a new home. Calvin, Pet of the Week: March 16, 2020 — Meet Calvin! This 2-year-old pup is a sweet boy who is a little scared in the adoption center. He came to the Humane Rescue Alliance in January when his previous owner could no longer care for him. Understandably, it has taken Calvin some time to adjust to his new environment, but thanks to the patience and care from HRA staff and volunteers Calvin has made incredible progress. He has transformed into a fun, wiggly pup who at 51 pounds thinks he’s the perfect lap dog. Calvin would do best in a quiet home where he can continue to work on his confidence. He's still shy when walking on a leash, but with some encouragement, predicability, and treats he’s making progress every day. Carra, Pet of the Week for March 9, 2020 — Meet Carra! This sweet, 2-year-old girl came to the Humane Rescue Alliance earlier this month from Mississippi via our transport program. She was in the shelter in Mississippi for some time, but has made her way to DC to finally find a family to call her own. She loves attention, people, other dogs, snuggling up with a warm blanket and, of course, treats. Think Carra is the girl for you? Pau, Pet of the Week for March 2, 2020 — Meet Pau! This wiggly, happy girl came to the Humane Rescue Alliance last month and is ready to find a family to call her own. She has been a little stressed in the adoption center, but after some extra attention from our staff and volunteers, Pau has started to relax. We’d love to help Pau find a new home where she can continue to thrive. At 6 years old, Pau knows her basic commands, but still has plenty of energy and love to give her new family. Baby Bug, Pet of the Week for February 24, 2020 — Meet Baby Bug! This sweet, 7-month-old pup came to the Humane Rescue Alliance from Alabama as part of HRA’s transport program. While we don’t know much about his past, we do know Baby Bug loves people and is ready to find a loving, new home to call his own. Think Baby Bug is the one for you? Sasha, Pet of the Week for February 19, 2020 — Meet Sasha! She’s a sweet, wiggly girl who loves her humans! All she wants is to be around her favorite people, and to meet new friends that will offer her lots of pets and love. She may be 9 years old, but she’s still got some puppy energy and enjoys long walks. She’s always wagging her tail, and it's hard to say no to her (especially since she’s so well behaved!). As an added bonus, if you're over 50, Sasha’s adoption fee is waived as part of HRA’s Boomer's Buddies program! Cali, Pet of the Week for February 10, 2020 (Human Rescue Alliance) — Meet Cali! This sweet girl is the ray of sunshine you need in your life. Cali came to the Humane Rescue Alliance last month when her previous owner was unable to care for her. We’d love to help this fun, active, 2-year-old girl find a new home to call her own. Cali is past the puppy phase and already knows sit and stay. She’d do well with a family that can continue to work with her on her basic manners and give her the love and attention she desperately needs. Meet Cali at HRA’s Oglethorpe Street adoption center.

Boosie, Pet of the Week for February 3, 2020. (Humane Rescue Alliance) — Boosie is a fun, easygoing pup who's ready to play, play and play some more! He's only eight months old, and needs an active family he can call his own. He's happy to be the center of attention and will happily take all the pets, scratches and treats you're willing to give. Nyla, Pet of the Week for January 22, 2020 (Humane Rescue Alliance) — <strong>Pet of the Week: Nyla</strong> Nyla came to the Humane Rescue Alliance from our partner shelter in Birmingham, Alabama. While we don’t know much about her background, we do she is extremely affectionate, wiggly, and friendly. We’d love to help Nyla find a loving home here in the D.C. area where she can relax and continue to work on her confidence. Think this sweet southern girl is the one for you? Darla, Pet of the Week for January 22, 2020 (Humane Rescue Alliance) — <strong>Pet of the Week: Darla</strong> Are you looking for a darling senior pup to add to your family? Look no further than 10-year-old Darla. Darla has quickly become a favorite of HRA’s staff and volunteers and we’d love to help this friendly, social girl find a new home. Darla has lived previously with young children and enjoys playing fetch and getting all the pets she can get. As an added bonus, Darla’s adoption fee is waived for adopters over 50 as part of HRA’s Boomer’s Buddies program. Jasmine, Pet of the Week for January 13, 2020. — <strong>Pet of the Week: Jasmine</strong> Jasmine has been getting lots of love, treats and attention from the staff at Humane Rescue Alliance and is starting to come out of her shell. She would be best matched with a patient family, who can go slow and help her build up her confidence. She's a quick learner, and once she gets comfortable, she's sure to be a sweet princess with her favorite people!

Zoe, the Pet of the Week for January 6, 2020. — <strong>Pet of the Week: Zoe</strong> Zoe is a fun, energetic girl who is the life of the party. She's just a year old and looking to find a loving new home to call her own. She came to the Humane Rescue Alliance when her original owner could not care for her. She's bouncy, wiggly and social, and needs a new owner who will continue to work with her on her basic manners. When she's not playing, all she wants is to lay her head in your lap and get pets and belly rubs from all her favorite people.
