Blue Angels head to Annapolis for Commissioning ceremony at Naval Academy

Watch for Blue skies next week in Annapolis — sorry(ish) for the pun.

The U.S. Naval Academy in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, is holding its Commissioning ceremony and the heralded Blue Angels will be there.

Here’s the schedule, according to the Navy.

Tuesday, May 25, at 2 p.m. is the Blue Angels’ flight rehearsal over the Severn River. The rehearsal requires the USNA  Bridge on Route 450 to close from 1:45 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The bridge will be closed again at 1:45 p.m. on May 26 for the Blue Angels flight demonstration, then will reopen when it’s done.

Friday, May 28 is the big day. There will be a Blue Angels flyover at 10:04 a.m. over the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The Academy’s Commissioning Week schedule has all the information you need online.

WTOP Traffic will keep a close eye on what is happening to let you know how the flyover may affect your trip to the Delmarva beaches for Memorial Day weekend.

Skubal shakes off 3-run first inning, then settles in to dominate for his 1st win as a Dodger

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tarik Skubal started out shaky, putting the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 3-0 hole in the first inning. Then, the two-time Cy Young Award winner dug in to flash the stuff that made him baseball's prize acquisition at the trade deadline. Skubal struck out 11 — one off his season best — to earn his first win since joining the two-time defending World Series champions, 4-3 over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night. "That's the guy that we needed. Completing seven innings, reset the bullpen, great outing,” manager Dave Roberts said. "He’s very physical, and you can see that when he needs to reach back for more, it’s in there.” Skubal was 0-2 with a 3.18 ERA in his first three starts with the Dodgers, who acquired him in a blockbuster deal with the Detroit Tigers earlier this month.
