Police release video of suspect, car in Northeast DC killing

The D.C. police have released video of a suspect and a car involved in the shooting death of a man in Northeast last month. Dennis Dykes, 34, of Southeast D.C., was shot and killed in the 4000 block of Grant Street Northeast, near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station, in the early morning hours of July 1, the police said in a statement Wednesday. A surveillance camera captured the shooting, which happened at about 1:20 a.m. Police are looking for anyone who can identify the suspect or the car in the video:

The National Book Festival is Saturday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest D.C. It will, of course, feature dozens of authors discussing their work, as regular attendees have come to expect. But this year, there’s more than just books and authors being celebrated. “We want people to understand the magic and the vastness of the collections at the Library of Congress,” Clay Smith, literary director of the Library of Congress told WTOP. His team puts the festival together each year. The festival is aiming to give attendees a broader look at American culture beyond books and the written word, Smith said.
