Police: Man in Va. home invasion was fatally shot by accomplice

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Virginia Beach police say a man who was found dead at the scene of a home invasion was taking part in the crime and was apparently shot by an accomplice.

The department said on Sunday that officers were called to an area near the beach for a reported shooting. Police said one person was dead, and another had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say in a news release Tuesday that investigators found that three suspects entered the home intending to commit a robbery. Officers say during the crime, one of the suspects fired a gun, striking and killing another suspect.

Authorities say the robbery victim was injured, but did not say how.

Police identified the dead man as 30-year-old Michael Scott of Suffolk. Officers have arrested a man in the crime.
