Local police wives organize vigil for Dallas officers

WASHINGTON — A small group gathered at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial at Judiciary Square for a candlelight vigil Saturday evening in honor of the fallen Dallas officers who were killed earlier this week. United for Blue, a group that supports law enforcement, organized the vigil. The names of the five officers killed in Dallas by a sniper were read aloud, and there was a moment of silence and a prayer. NBC Washington’s Darcy Spencer reports that the leaders of the vigil were women married to local police officers who wanted to do something to show their support for the Dallas officers.
