Mario Andretti will open Virginia Tire’s newest store

WASHINGTON — Virginia Tire & Auto, which recently opened its 13th location in Northern Virginia in Bristow, will hold its official grand opening Aug. 25, and racing legend Mario Andretti will be the guest of honor.

Andretti also is an official Firestone brand spokesman.

The new store, at 11109 Nokesville Rd., Bristow, will be Virginia Tire & Auto’s second location in Prince William County.

The Bristow grand opening is part of Virginia Tire’s 40th anniversary. The family-owned company opened its first store in 1976.

Virginia Tire & Auto is aiming to grow its business beyond traditional store openings by tapping into online commerce. In March, it launched the on-demand service VTA Valet, which includes a pickup and return service, a loaner car and real-time tracking of the progress being made on automotive repairs or routine maintenance jobs.

Editor’s note: This story has been  updated to reflect that Aug. 25 is the date of Virginia Tire & Auto’s official grand opening.

Movie theaters are starting to reopen. Will anyone go?

For the first time in roughly five months, AMC Theatres will pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and start the show. But will anyone buy a ticket?
