Amtrak’s Acela Express and Northeast Regional service resume

WASHINGTON — Amtrak service resumed Friday afternoon after an earlier suspension that affected Acela Express and Northeast Regional service between Wilmington, Delaware, and Philadelphia.

Trains were being held between Wilmington and Philadelphia after reports of an officer shot.

ABC 6 News in Philadelphia reported that an officer has been shot multiple times in Folcroft in Pennsylvania’s Delaware County.

An Amtrak spokesman tells WTOP that two trains outside of Philadelphia are being held, as well as one outside of Wilmington.

Amtrak said Keystone Service from Harrisburg to Philadelphia and New York was not impacted.

Amtrak said its police department was “coordinating closely with local police to resume normal service as quickly and safely as possible.”

WTOP’s Maggie Bartolomeo contributed to this story.
