White Sox put closer Lindstrom on DL

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chicago White Sox placed closer Matt Lindstrom on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of an injured tendon in his left ankle.

Lindstrom was injured while attempting to field a bunt in the ninth inning Monday in a 7-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals. He is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA and six saves in nine opportunities. The 34-year-old right-hander will return to Chicago for further examinations.

The White Sox purchased the contract of right-hander Javy Guerra, who was 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA and three saves in 14 relief appearances from Triple-A Charlotte. Guerra, 28, was 4-5 with a 2.90 ERA and 29 saves over parts of three seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The White Sox claimed Guerra off waivers on March 26.
