WASHINGTON – The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado caused some damage to property near Middleburg, Va. early Friday.

As thunderstorms moved through the area, the EF-0 tornado (the weakest official rating with winds 65 to 85 mph) touched down shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Damage was reported in the area of Sally Mill Road and Light Horse Court just east of Middleburg. Employees of the National Weather Service performed a Damage Survey and found tree damage consistent with an EF-0 twister.
