Clay Aiken’s political opponent has died

WASHINGTON – The man running against “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken in a North Carolina congressional race has died, Politico is reporting.

According to Politico, Keith Crisco was injured after a fall and died Monday afternoon.

Crisco and Aiken were about 400 votes apart after the Democratic primary for the state’s 2nd Congressional District last week. The winner would face Rep. Renee Ellmers in November.

The Associated Press is reporting that Crisco died in a “home accident.”
