ASUNCION, Paraguay (AP) — Officials have discovered bugs in the Paraguayan president’s palace, though they’re eating rather than listening.

The west wing of the palace is infested with termites, but the main wooden structure is not endangered for now, the Public Works Ministry said Monday.

The government plans to call for bids on restoring the termite-hit wing, which houses some offices and gala rooms.

“The palace’s structure is wooden and we’re certain it has termites, but we need to find out the level of damage using the tools provided by the latest technology,” Gustavo Glavinich, head of maintenance at the palace, told reporters. “For now, there’s no danger of collapse, or anything of the sort.”

The Lopez Palace is the seat of Paraguay’s government and home and office of President Horacio Cartes.

The neoclassic building dates back to 1857.
