Police investigate early-morning homicide in Fairfax County

ALEXANDRIA, Va. —  Fairfax County police said a 24-year-old man was fatally shot early Friday in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.

The shooting happened at around 2:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the Cityside Huntington Metro apartments,  just off Richmond Highway.

Tarreece John Sampson, 24, of Alexandria, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sampson worked for Fairfax County Public Schools System.

“We are investigating this as a homicide,” said Fairfax County Police Sgt. Roger Henriquez.

It is very early in the investigation, and there is no word yet on any suspects or a motive.

A Virginia pet expo running through Sunday is hoping to help those who recently got new pets to find what they need. Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
