WASHINGTON – A Ben & Jerry’s ice cream store in Boston’s Harvard Square has added a new flavor to their array of treats. The limited edition flavor, “Taste the Lin-Sanity,” started selling last Friday.

The vanilla frozen yogurt, lychee honey swirls and fortune cookie creation is just another addition to the list of “Lin-sane” nicknames to be invented for NBA star Jeremy Lin.

The 23-year-old point guard is a graduate of the Harvard Basketball program. Standing at 6 foot 3 inches, he has defied odds by leading the New York Knicks on a seven-game winning streak.

General manager for Boston and Cambridge’s Ben & Jerry’s, Ryan Midden, is very excited about the new flavor.

“We are very excited to celebrate the Harvard Basketball program, as well as a local celebrity with our limited time batch,” he said in an e-mail interview with Boston.com.

Customers had a chance to shoot at a basketball hoop set up inside the store near Harvard University. Those who scored a basket earned $1 off their purchase of a pint of the new flavor.
