KFC’s infamous ‘Double Down sandwich’ returns

WASHINGTON — For a limited time, KFC is bringing back what may be its most loved and hated food item.

The Double Down, a bacon and cheese sandwich that uses two fried chicken breasts as the “bread” will be available from April 21 to May 25.

The Double Down first appeared in 2010 and was so popular that it stayed on the menu longer than originally planned, CNN reports.

However, health experts panned the “sandwich.”

Despite being a good source of protein, the Double Down has 540 calories, more than 30 grams of fat and more than half the U.S. recommended daily allowance of sodium.
