WASHINGTON – The people spoke, and the Virginia Department of Transportation listened.
Although great effort was taken in initially planning the lane reduction on the ramp from the Beltway Outer Loop to to I-66 westbound, computer models and the best engineering calculations don’t always turn out to be real-life accurate. Such was the case for this well intended change.
Traffic nightmares ensued as motorists were at times backed up as far as the American Legion Bridge to try and get onto westbound I-66 from the Outer Loop.
While drivers are used to their share of delays in the D.C. area, this self-inflicted wound could not be ignored or put off until summer, as originally scheduled.
Stay tuned to the Weekend Wakeup call for more specifics about the plan this weekend.
