Montgomery County to make up 2 snow days

WASHINGTON — Students in Montgomery County Public Schools will be in class April 21 and June 13. Those two days will be snow make-up days.

The Maryland State Department of Education on Tuesday approved the Easter Monday make-up day. June 13 will be the last day of classes for students.

The school system will not have to make up four other snow days. Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Lillian Lowery granted the waiver of those days.

With the changes, Montgomery County students will be in classes 176 days, four days fewer than state law requires.

“We appreciate Dr. Lowery’s recognition that this has been a very unusual winter and her willingness to grant us some flexibility in our calendar,” said Montgomery County Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr, in a news release.
