Hackers infiltrate Kickstarter data

WASHINGTON — The internet startup funding site, Kickstarter, posted a blog post saying that hackers attempted to access customers’ data.

The company reports that no credit card information was taken, only usernames, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers and encrypted passwords.

Yancey Strickler, Kickstarter CEO, recommends that users should create a new password on their account as a precaution.

Strickler writes, “We’re incredibly sorry that this happened. We set a very high bar for how we serve our community, and this incident is frustrating and upsetting. We have since improved our security procedures and systems in numerous ways.”
