Man reported approaching children in Alexandria

WASHINGTON – Alexandria police are searching for a man who reportedly has approached several children in the last few weeks.

Police have received two reports of a man driving an older model green Subaru wagon who approached children.

The first instance happened Jan. 31 in the 400 block of Crown View Lane while a boy was walking his dog, police say.

The second happened Feb. 7 as two boys walked home from George Mason Elementary School.

In both instances, the man spoke to the children, who were not accompanied by an adult and who did not know him.

Police say the man did not commit any crime and did not attempt to lure the children into his car.

He is described as a white man, about 60 to 70 years old with gray hair.

Police urge parents to remind their children never to get into the car of someone they don’t know and tell their parents if something happened that made them feel strange.

Police would like to speak with the man. Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call investigators at 703-746-6673.
