Valentine’s and snow make it a banner day for flowers

WASHINGTON — This is a big time of year for Sefika Kurt, the owner of A Little Shop of Flowers, in Adams Morgan. And the snowstorm that hit the area on Wednesday and Thursday is making Valentine’s Day a lot of fun.

“It’s so romantic,” Kurt says. “Beautiful snow, and everybody has the time.”

Kurt says that Thursday’s snow day meant that men had plenty of time to think about Valentine’s Day flowers, and not much else to do.

A snow day equals time to plan – and no reason to be empty-handed.

Taylor was looking for a succulent or a cactus for his partner. His cat would eat anything else, he says.

And at least one of her customers, Kurt says, had gotten an ultimatum from his partner: “No Safeway flowers.”
