WASHINGTON– American and world number one women’s tennis champion Serena Williams was defeated Sunday at the Australian Open at Melbourne Park in her fourth round match against Serbian Ana Ivanovic.

Ana Ivanovic, ranked 14, defeated Williams, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
