La Plata mom and daughter attacked by neighbor

WASHINGTON — A La Plata, Maryland mother and daughter are recovering after they were attacked on Monday by a neighbor who says he was high on PCP.

Police Chief Carl Schinner  says the mother, who has not been identified, agreed to give her neighbor a ride to the sheriff’s office after he told her his life was in danger. The mother’s 2-year-old daughter was in a car seat in the back.

At a stoplight, the neighbor, James Ronald Lee, climbed into the back seat and began attacking the young girl, police say.

Schinner says the mother got out and tried to remove the car seat when Lee began attacking the mother.

Both mother and daughter were treated for injuries at a hospital and released.

Lee faces three counts of assault.

A fund is being established to help the mother and daughter. You can contribute on this GoFundMe page.
