Mom: My daughter signs better than Mandela interpreter

WASHINGTON – Amid allegations that a man faked interpretations for the deaf during a celebration in South Africa, a kindergartner from Tampa Bay is showing the world the right way to sign.

Lori Koch posted a video of her daughter signing during a Christmas concert for her deaf parents while the children around her sign and clap.

Koch tweeted that her daughter can sign better than the man who interpreted during Tuesday’s ceremony to celebrate Nelson Mandela.

Advocates for the deaf said the man was not signing but waving his arms around meaninglessly.
