Passerby Alerted Police To Home Invasion — An electrician in the neighborhood saw two men pull out of a Farnham Drive driveway in his friend’s gold Cadillac Escalade, prompting a call to the police. Council Set To Pass Minimum Wage Hike — It appears the Montgomery County Council will pass a minimum wage hike at its session on Tuesday. It’s just not clear how high the raise will go or if it will be tied to the consumer price index. A group of three councilmembers support a raise to $11.50 per hour over three years. County Executive Isiah Leggett on Monday said he now supports a raise to $11.50 over five years or $1 higher than the state minimum wage — whichever is lower. His proposal wouldn’t index the minimum wage to account for inflation. Another group of councilmembers are working on another compromise proposal. The county’s minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Town To Talk Undergrounding Power Lines — The Town of Chevy Chase Council will hold a public meeting on undergrounding utility lines on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. The Council wants to learn more about the feasibility of burying its underground wires and if residents are interested in the costly process. A report from two councilmembers claimed “there is no serious debate” to suggest underground power lines aren’t more reliable than overhead wires. The Town is looking at burying power lines as one way to use its roughly $8 million budget surplus. [Town of Chevy Chase]
