WASHINGTON – “Dunk of the year.” “Assault.” “Run for cover.” “Jaw-dropping.”

This is just a sampling of the headlines sports writers used to describe Blake Griffin’s dunk on the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kendrick Perkins Monday night.

It made such an impact that The Associated Press lead off their recap of the game with Griffin’s thumper.

“Blake Griffin’s jaw-dropping one-handed jam over Kendrick Perkins sent Los Angeles Clippers fans into a frenzy, fired up his teammates, lit up the Twitterverse and burned the Oklahoma City Thunder,” writes the AP’s Beth Harris.

The dunk even solicited a repsonse from Shaq: “OMG!!! Did y’all just see Blake Griffin dunk!!!!! Daaayyyummm!” O’Neal wrote on Twitter.
