Park Police arrest man carrying rifle, ammunition at WWII Memorial

WASHINGTON – U.S. Park Police arrested a man at the World War II Memorial Sunday morning, Park Police Lieutenant Pam Smith told WTOP.

The man came to the memorial carrying a black rifle bag and backpack.

Inside the case, police found an unloaded 22-caliber rifle and ammunition in a separate part of the bag.

Police have not released the man’s name or any other identifying information.
