NEW YORK (AP) – Tom Hanks has revealed he has type 2 diabetes.

Hanks told David Letterman that his blood sugar levels have been high since he was 36. But now, he says his doctor has told him he’s “graduated” to diabetes.

The doctor told Hanks that if he weighed as much as he weighed in high school, he’d “be completely healthy,” but Hanks told her that was impossible, so he’ll have to deal with diabetes.

Type 2 can be controlled through diet and exercise.
