Crash on George Washington Parkway kills driver

WASHINGTON – A woman was killed Sunday in a crash on the George Washington Parkway northbound near the exit for Route 123.

Park Police Spokesman Sergeant David Schlosser says the car ran off the road and crashed straight into a tree just after 4 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was pronounced dead.

The passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A witness tells WTOP the car was crushed in the accident.
