Protesters rally in Prince George’s Co. against Walmart firings

WASHINGTON – A group of Walmart protesters in Prince George’s County joined others across the country Thursday to demonstrate against the recent firing of 70 Walmart employees who participated in a what they say was a federally protected march in June, ABC7 reports.

Two busloads from the District and Landover, Md., joined Thursday’s protest. Six were arrested on Route 450 in Landover Hills after putting themselves in danger, according to ABC7.

Three Walmart workers in New York were also arrested for similar charges.

A statement from Walmart calls the protests a “handful of union-orchestrated media stunts,” ABC7 reports.
