Father, son rescued from Sugarloaf Mountain

WASHINGTON – A father and son have been rescued from the side of a cliff at Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick County, according to Frederick County Fire and Rescue.

Denise Pouget, a spokeswoman for fire and rescue, says the child fell at least 30 feet off of a cliff and then the father, in attempting to rescue his son, also fell.

Both father and son are in stable condition and are being airlifted out of what is being described as a very difficult area to access.

The department received the call for help around 1 p.m.

Frederick County officials say they aren’t sure of the extent of the injuries yet.

Sugarloaf Mountain is on the Frederick-Montgomery County line.
