SAN DIEGO (AP)— A man who was believed to have been distracted by an electronic device he was carrying has fatally fallen off a cliff above a San Diego beach.

San Diego television station NBC 7 reports the man fell while walking in San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs park on Christmas Day.

San Diego lifeguard Bill Bender says witnesses reported the 33-year-old man was looking at an electronic device he was carrying as he fell off the cliff.

Lifeguards couldn’t immediately locate the device and aren’t sure if it was a cellphone or a camera.

Passersby performed CPR on the victim before authorities arrived.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A lifeguard spokesman did not immediately return phone and email messages Sunday seeking additional information.
