Police: Woman shot while driving in Rockville

WASHINGTON — Police say a woman was shot in the leg while driving Monday night in Rockville, Maryland.

The shooting happened around 7:50 p.m. in the area of the 300 block of Martins Lane, near Welsh Park.

The woman told Rockville City Police she did not initially realize she had been shot, but once she did, police say she drove herself to the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department. She was then taken to a hospital.

According to police, the victim did not get a look at the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and police say they believe the shooting was random.
