Another water-main break in Prince George’s County

WASHINGTON – You may be waking up with no running water this morning. There’s another water-main problem in Prince George’s County. It has residents saying, here we go again. No running water. It’s the latest in a string of severe water problems in our area.

A 24-inch main broke around 6 a.m. Saturday along Branchville Road, near Greenbelt Road in College Park.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says that the Beltway Plaza Mall and about 20 other customers will lose water service at around 4 p.m., when crews will shut off service to start repairs.

The water could be shut off until mid-morning tomorrow. One southbound lane of Kenilworth Avenue will be closed during the repairs.

Earlier this week, problems detected with another water main led to water restrictions in Prince George’s County that have since been lifted.
