Cooling centers open to give relief from area’s extreme heat

WASHINGTON – The Washington, D.C., area is preparing to see its hottest week so far this year as temperatures are expected to climb to more than 90 degrees several days.

Several counties are opening up cooling centers as places for residents to escape the heat. Below is a list of many of the area’s cooling centers.
