Man charged in Lorton home shooting

WASHINGTON — A 20-year-old man suffered a life-threatening wound when he was shot during an argument at a small party early Tuesday in Lorton, Virginia, police say.

Fairfax County police charged 48-year-old Michael Wassif of Lorton with one count of malicious wounding.

Police say they responded just before 3 a.m. to the 9200 block of Forest Greens Drive.

When they arrived, they found three women and the two men. They say the dispute was contained to the home.

Wassif is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

A Virginia pet expo running through Sunday is hoping to help those who recently got new pets to find what they need. Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
