Va. loss prevention officer charged with sexual assault

WASHINGTON – A 23-year-old woman who was detained and charged with misdemeanor shoplifting on Saturday told police a loss prevention officer sexually assaulted her, says the Fairfax County Police Department.

Officers were called to the Springfield Plaza around 4 p.m. on Saturday and began an investigation the ended in the arrest of Tabbasum H. Gilani, 29, the loss prevention officer who was charged with abduction, intent to defile and forcible sodomy, police say.

The victim was taken to a hospital.

Gilani, of Lorton, Va., was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
