Apartment buildings in Lanham evacuated after mysterious shaking

WASHINGTON — Two apartment buildings in Prince George’s County were evacuated after the buildings shook for no apparent reason, opening a crack in a wall.

According to Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady, the mysterious incident happened late Saturday night on the 9800 block of Good Luck Road.

Brady said 22 apartment units in two of the buildings at the Carleton East apartments were affected. Because of the structural damage, fire officials evacuated the buildings.

Sunday afternoon, a county building inspector was scheduled to check the property to figure out the extent of the damage and when residents could return.
