Greenbelt’s 2014 budget includes tax rate increase for residents

The Greenbelt City Council has proposed a 2014 budget that includes a 1.5 cent tax increase for city residents, according to The Gazette.

The nearly $25 million budget will go to a vote June 3.

Council members said the focus was on reducing costs instead of tackling wish-list items.

The council was able to set aside $800,000 to renovate the Greenbelt Theatre, among many other expenses.
