1 killed in Takoma Park crash

WASHINGTON — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Takoma Park, Maryland. According to Takoma Park police, the crash happened around 7:25 p.m. in the 7800 block of Carroll Avenue, near Garland Avenue.

Investigators say it appears the car left the right side of the road and hit a stone wall and embankment in front of a home. Police say the driver died at the scene, and was identified as 20-year-old Yoftahea Afework Melese, of Takoma Park. Two passengers were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
