Woman killed in Montgomery County crash

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County Police are investigating, after a woman was killed in single-vehicle crash in Rockville early Saturday.

Police say they spotted the car traveling south on Georgia Avenue approaching the ICC (Inter County Connector) shortly after midnight.

The vehicle was moving very fast and did not have headlights on.

Before officers could intervene, the car left the road and struck a traffic pole.

The driver was taken to Suburban Hospital where she died.

She is being identified as 68-year-old Penelope Ann Garland, of the 3500 block of Daisy Lane in Woodbine, Md.
