Runners rock and run streets of D.C.

WASHINGTON – A rockin’ marathon kicked off the St. Patty’s weekend off with a bang. On Saturday, about 30,000 runners ran through the District for the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Marathon & CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Half Marathon .

Runners started on Constitution Avenue, made their way around the National Mall, and crossed the finish line at RFK Stadium. Peter Lawrence came in first with a time of 2:32:27. The first woman to finish the marathon was Ashley Olsen at 2:53:28.

Live bands performed along each mile of the course. The National Shamrock Fest at RFK continues through the afternoon with live music, games, food, and a line of beer trucks.
