Police: Officer shoots armed man in Woodbridge

WASHINGTON — Prince William County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting which occurred at a residence in Woodbridge, Va. Monday night.

Police were called to a home on the 13100 block of Tory Lane around 6:30 p.m. Monday for a reported disturbance between a woman and her son.

The son, identified as a 25-year-old man, approached the officer with a knife. The officer fired and hit the man in the upper chest.

The man was flown to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.

The officer and mother also suffered from minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
