Deer takes the stage at area theater

WASHINGTON — An area theater company hosted an unusual, and unplanned, cameo on Tuesday. A deer wandered into the Signature Theatre, in Arlington, Virginia, and made it all the way to the stage before being ushered off, NBC Washington reports. The deer evidently jumped onto a loading dock of the company’s Shirlington building and decided to take a look around, Signature’s publicist told NBC Washington. It wandered through the hallway and onto the stage. It’s easy to think the deer wanted a role, but in fact set construction was underway for “The Fix,” which opens Aug. 11, and a production meeting was going on as well. The other workers in the theater ran out, locking the door behind the deer. The set-builders in the production meeting had a simple solution: They pushed the deer back down the hallway.
