Va. couple fashion ‘personal shark cages’; lifeguard not amused (Video)

WASHINGTON — A couple from Richmond, Virginia appear to have taken matters into their own hands when it comes to protecting themselves against sharks — but it seems to have all been a joke. Video taken on a beach in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, shows a couple strolling into the water with what look like personal-size shark cages over their heads. They didn’t get very far, though, before a lifeguard told them to bring the cages back in.

A North Carolina TV station identified the couple as Sandi and Scott Bergman, according to the Outer Banks Voice. The paper also reports that Scott Bergman said the cages were made out of plastic piping. Well, at least they got a good photo out of it, which showed up on Scott Bergman’s Facebook page:

A Starbucks barista who was publicly shamed by a customer after asking her to wear a face mask has received nearly $80,000 in virtual tips after a Facebook post that criticized him went viral. Lenin Gutierrez, 24, was working his usual shift at a San Diego Starbucks on a Monday morning when a woman -- who was not wearing a mask -- walked in and attempted to place an order, he told CNN.
