WASHINGTON –For a third time in a week, a Prince George’s County police officer has been injured.  The latest one happened just after midnight Sunday in Bladensburg, when a suspect in a domestic violence call pinned an officer to a car while trying to make a getaway.

Police say Officer Michael Lucotti responded to a call in the 4300 block of Kenilworth Avenue. A male there tried to flee in a car but he instead pinned the officer against a parked vehicle. The officer fired his gun in response.  The unidentified male was apprehended and transported to the hospital for a non-life threatening wound, police said. Criminal charges are pending. Lucotti was treated at the hospital and released.

This is the third incident this week. A Prince George’s County police officer was injured in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning, less than eight hours after a similar incident sent an officer to the hospital.

Investigators say that at about 1 a.m. Thursday, an officer approached a stolen car. The driver accelerated and sped away from the scene, pushing the officer up on the hood of the vehicle.

The officer was injured and is now recovering. 

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, another Prince George’s County officer was injured after walking up to a car in District Heights, getting caught in the door and dragged by the vehicle. He is also recovering from his injuries.
