Baby tries on glasses for first time; mind is (adorably) blown

WASHINGTON — One of the greatest moments in a parent’s life comes at a child’s moment of discovery. And an Ohio mother’s Facebook post has gone viral because it’s got a heartwarming example.

Jessica Sinclair last month posted a video of her 10-month-old infant, Piper, trying on her glasses for the first time. Piper struggled against the glasses at first, but the look on her face when she sees the world clearly for the first time is priceless:

CBS News reports that there’s an important lesson behind the cuteness, though: It’s never too early to get your child’s eyesight checked.

Sinclair tells WKRC that Piper wasn’t hitting a milestone, and first found she might have a slight astigmatism. That’s when she took the baby to an eye doctor. You can’t really do a regular eye test on an infant because, of course, a child that young doesn’t know letters or numbers yet. But the doctor dilated Piper’s eyes and used a scope, and found she was very farsighted.

Sinclair says she hopes the word gets out about the importance of getting your baby’s vision checked. She couldn’t have a cuter messenger.
