Seattle DB Sherman’s bizarre news conference skewers NFL policies

WASHINGTON — Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has drawn more than his share of controversy in his short career, and his latest move might get him into more trouble.

That said, it’s really funny.

Sherman’s Seahawks teammate Marshawn Lynch was recently fined $100,000 by the National Football League for refusing to speak with the media after a game, and responded with another post-game interview in which he answered literally nearly every question with “Yeah.”

That evidently ticked Sherman off, because on Tuesday, as Deadspin reported, he took to the podium for his weekly meeting with the media and called out the NFL’s requirements for players to speak; the league’s product-endorsement rules; and the seeming contradiction between the league’s avowed concern for player safety and their habit of occasionally scheduling teams for two games in five days – the latter perhaps at the forefront of Sherman’s mind, given that the Seahawks just played Sunday and play again on Thursday.

The cardboard cutout of Doug Baldwin, with the real Baldwin crouched behind it answering questions? Your guess is as good as ours.
