Armed men shoot security guard in Laurel

WASHINGTON – A security guard was shot inside a discount store in Laurel Thursday evening.

Prince George’s County police say two armed men walked into the Bottom Dollar Store on Route 197 just before 8 p.m. They approached the security guard, wrestled away his gun and shot him.

The guard was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police say he is expected to survive.

Police were still talking to witnesses at the scene about 10 p.m.
